Join a Multidisciplinary Mental Health Clinic in BC and Alberta

Avicenna Centre for Brain Health was built around a coordinated care model. Instead of patients navigating disconnected services on their own, our clinic brings multiple disciplines together to support assessment, treatment recommendations, health navigation, and access to appropriate allied health services.

Our physician-led services include psychiatric consultations, medication reviews, and specialized clinical modules. Patients may also be connected with private-pay allied health services such as counselling, psychology, therapy programs, and other supports depending on their care needs.

For physicians and psychiatrists, this creates a practice environment where you are not working in isolation. You are supported by a broader clinical and administrative team that helps coordinate referrals, patient communication, intake processes, and access to related services.

Why Physicians Choose Avicenna

Avicenna offers a unique opportunity for physicians and psychiatrists who want to be part of a growing mental health clinic with a structured care model.

Our clinic is designed to support clinicians with:

  • A multidisciplinary team environment
  • Patient care coordinators who help patients navigate services
  • Referral-based psychiatric consultation pathways
  • Specialized clinical modules for ADHD, memory concerns, older adult mental health, and treatment-resistant depression
  • Allied health support through counselling, psychology, and therapy services
  • Opportunities to serve patients in British Columbia and Alberta
  • Administrative support for intake, scheduling, communication, and follow-up coordination
  • A patient-centred model focused on practical recommendations and coordinated care

Avicenna’s approach allows physicians to focus on clinical assessment and recommendations while the clinic team helps patients understand next steps, access appropriate supports, and coordinate their care journey.

Physician and Psychiatrist Roles We Are Interested In

Avicenna is interested in connecting with physicians and psychiatrists who may be a strong fit for our growing clinic network.

Psychiatrists

We welcome psychiatrists who are interested in providing psychiatric consultations, medication reviews, diagnostic impressions, and treatment recommendations for patients with mild to moderate mental health concerns.

Our psychiatric consultation model supports patients through assessment and recommendations while their primary care provider maintains responsibility for ongoing care when appropriate.

Adult Psychiatrists

Our Adult Mental Health Clinic supports adults experiencing mental health concerns that may require psychiatric assessment, physician review, medication recommendations, and multidisciplinary input.

Physicians joining this area may support patients dealing with concerns such as mood disorders, anxiety, psychosis-related symptoms, behavioural concerns, and other mental health conditions suitable for outpatient consultation.

Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists

Our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Clinic supports children and teens up to the age of 17 who may be experiencing psychiatric symptoms, behavioural concerns, anxiety, mood disorders, suicidal ideation, or other mental health challenges.

This is an important area of need across both British Columbia and Alberta, and Avicenna is interested in physicians who are experienced in child and adolescent psychiatric care.

Older Adult and Geriatric Psychiatrists

Our Older Adult Mental Health Clinic supports patients aged 65 and older who may be experiencing depression, anxiety, memory problems, behaviour changes, disturbed thoughts, or other mental health concerns.

This role may also connect closely with Avicenna’s Memory Clinic and broader brain health services.

ADHD-Focused Physicians and Psychiatrists

Avicenna operates ADHD services for both adults and children. Our ADHD Clinic supports assessment pathways for patients seeking clarity around attention difficulties, hyperactivity, impulsivity, and related functional challenges.

We are interested in clinicians who have experience with adult ADHD, child and adolescent ADHD, psychiatric consultation, and coordinated assessment models.

Esketamine and Treatment-Resistant Depression Physicians

Avicenna’s Esketamine Clinic supports eligible patients with treatment-resistant depression. This program involves psychiatric assessment, eligibility review, treatment planning, and monitored treatment sessions where appropriate.

Physicians with interest or experience in treatment-resistant depression, Spravato, esketamine treatment, or advanced depression care may be a strong fit for this area of the clinic.

Medical-Legal and Independent Assessment Physicians

Avicenna also provides other support services, including independent medical examinations, third-party reports, capacity-related assessments, and medical-legal consultation services where appropriate.

Physicians with experience in psychiatric IMEs, disability-related assessments, WCB-related reports, capacity assessments, or medical-legal work are welcome to connect with our team.

Our Clinical Model

Avicenna Centre for Brain Health follows a consultation-based model for many physician-led services.

Patients are commonly referred by a family physician or nurse practitioner for psychiatric consultation. During the initial assessment, the psychiatrist may provide diagnostic impressions, medication recommendations, and psychosocial recommendations. The patient may then continue ongoing care with their family physician or nurse practitioner, while Avicenna’s Patient Care Coordinators help patients understand related clinic services that may support their care plan.

Avicenna also operates specialized clinical modules that patients may contact directly for more information, including:

This model allows physicians to provide focused clinical assessment while patients benefit from coordinated navigation, related services, and team-based support.

A Clinic Built Around Patient-Centred Care

Avicenna values patient-centred care that is respectful of individual patient preferences, needs, and values.

Our team works with patients, families, referring providers, and allied health professionals to create a more organized care experience. This is especially important in mental health, where patients often need more than one type of support.

Depending on the patient’s needs, Avicenna’s model may include:

  • Psychiatric assessment
  • Medication recommendations
  • Psychosocial recommendations
  • Health navigation
  • Counselling or psychology services
  • ADHD assessment pathways
  • Memory and cognitive assessment pathways
  • Esketamine eligibility assessment
  • Pharmacogenetic testing through OptimalRx Plus
  • Communication with referring providers where appropriate

For physicians, this means joining a clinic that understands the importance of coordination, communication, and practical next steps after assessment.
